Save Money with Solar Power for Homes

Although we may already have changed our energy-saving lifestyle to conform to agreed recommendation on management of energy in our house, the monthly charges for our electricity and gas supplies consistently and coherently increase day by day. We therefore have to take a look at the current and modern technology of harnessing energy using solar power for homes.

Various Technologies to Save Money With Solar Power For Homes

Solar power is principally harnessing the free energy of the solar to generate electricity. There are two fundamental methods to generate electricity from the heat and light of the solar. First one is utilizing photo-voltaic (PV) that may harness the light from the solar and straightway changing it into DC electricity. The second is with concentrating solar power (CSP) that not directly converts the heat from the solar to electricity. CSP requires the refocusing of the heat of the solar rays right into a single point that can boil water. The super heated water will then be used to run the electricity and heat turbines (generators) that can finally generate electricity.

Methodology of CSP technique to Save Money With Solar Power For Homes

The CSP technology of renewable energy was adapted and embraced by Eco-friendly international nations and huge organizations to create electricity for the benefit of civilization, societies and communities. They use “solar farms”, arrays of curved mirrors that comply with the placement of the solar, to replicate all of the beams right into a single location i.e. focal point. This method may be very easy and had confirmed to achieve great success in harnessing of free solar energy. It additionally has a fundamental disadvantage, as it is rather harmful for use domestically. Energy savvy households have started using PV Solar modules at their residential houses. This technique, though not but very environment friendly and efficient, however, it is the modern technology to energy self-adequacy.

Use of Photovoltaic to Save Money With Solar Power For Homes

Photo-voltaic derived its title from two primary phrases. “Photo” means light, whereas “voltaic” means electricity. PV panels can be formed by placing positive and negative silicon between two non-reflective glasses. One of the sheets is treated with boron and the other phosphorous and this creates a positive and a negative electric charge. When the PV cells are illuminated by the sun rays, DC electricity is generated.

Harnessing of Sun to Save Money With Solar Power For Homes

PV panels can be directly connected to the electrical components that use direct current (DC). Most of our normal house appliances use alternating current (AC) and it is required to be hooked up to an electronic gadget often called solar inverter. When the sun is not consistently available to illuminate the Solar PV panels, the solar modules are usually used to charge the solar batteries that power up the house load and other electrical components.

How much do you get back from solar panels?

Initially, installation of solar power plant is little bit expensive with regards to upfront cost, as we have to invest on new devices like, solar panels, solar mounting structure, DC Connectors, Solar DC Wire, AJB, DJB, SPD, Lightening Arrester, Earthing, Solar Inverter, Solar Batteries etc. However, I must say that Return of Investment (ROI) is quite fast since the cost of installation is recoverable within 3 to 4 years hence, a consumer would get electricity free of cost for next 25 years.  We will be able to recover the cost as time progresses. Many people often ask me “do solar panels increase home value”? I would say Yes! Because one time investment would increase the home value for future being self-reliant while generating own electricity consistently for next 25 years at least.

How much do solar panels save on electricity bills?

Installation of solar panels is certainly going to reduce electric bill up to 90% month by month for next 25 years guaranteed.  You will be amazed to get reduced electric bill after solar panels month by month for next 25 years.  You will also thank yourself for taking this bold decision despite initial investment cost of installation of solar power at your home. Always look for ways to get ideas how to save solar energy at home after installation of grid connected rooftop solar power plant. Benefits of Solar Electric Power

It appears as if all over the place wherever you look, there’s some talk going on about Benefits of Solar Electric Power i.e. alternate energy sources. Be it fossil fuels, geothermal, wind energy, hydroelectric or solar electric power, most of the house owners, institutional sector and commercial ventures, all are on the lookout for methods to get extra benefits at a better rate. In truth, there may be such a curiosity to find greater energy choices that the solar market has raised at a fastest pace to the tunes of 80% since 2012 at entire globe. All most all nations are adopting solar energy or any other alternate energy which is renewable in nature to reduce the carbon emission for a better earth and environment. If you leave behind this aspect, every country on the globe is eager to shed off from conventional energy sources and be a power reliant country while adopting clean green energy like solar, wind and Thermal.

Wide Spread Use due to Benefits of Solar Electric Power

While considering all cos and pros of solar energy and benefits of solar electric power, perhaps one of the most essentially and generally used varieties of alternate energy is solar electrical power. It has been used for many years in international locations including USA, China, Germany, Britain, Australia and many developing and underdeveloped countries throughout the globe.  Benefits of solar electric power are so huge and vast that every house owner, schools, colleges, Institutions, societies, residential associations, commercial ventures, shops, malls, hospitals and industries are opting for its efficiency as well as enhanced asset quality to decrease their monthly energy costs – not to mention make them less reliant on area utility companies / DISCOMs.

So, Let us understand what is solar electric power?

Solar panels are devices that convert sunlight into electricity. They are called “solar” panels because most of the time, the utmost prevailing source of light available is the Sun, called Sol by astronomers. Some researchers also call them photovoltaics which mean, basically, “light-electricity.” I mean electricity generated by light (sunlight).

The Basics of Photovoltaic Cells

A solar panel is a group of solar cells. Lots of small solar cells spread over a huge area can work together to provide enough power to be useful. The more light that hits a cell, the more current it produces, so spaceship are typically designed with solar panels that can always be pointed at the Sun even as the rest of the body of the spaceship moves around. This is how we can understand the working of solar panels or how solar panel works.  Most Common type of Solar Cells are

  1. Monocrystalline SolarPanels (Mono-SI)
  2. Polycrystalline SolarPanels (Poly-SI)
  3. Thin-Film SolarCells (TFSC)
  4. Amorphous Silicon SolarCell (A-Si)
  5. Biohybrid Solar

Common types of Solar Panels

  1. Traditional types of solar panels are made of mono-crystalline silicon.
  2. Whereas poly-crystalline are most commonly used around the globe.

Types of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects

Types of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects – There are three types of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects, which can be installed at any house, dwelling, shops, malls, institutions, residential society or industrial establishments.

  1. Grid Connected or On-Grid.  This type of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects / Grid Rooftop solar power Plant can be installed at places where grid is available for almost 24 hours and solar power plant is connected with the utility grid.  The electricity produced is provided to the premises load and extra if any is fed in to the grid. A grid connected solar power system includes solar panels, inverters with no backup battery. Eligible for 30% MNRE Solar Subsidy. This is the best type of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects / solar power system for home, shops, offices, institutions and industries to combat with huge monthly electric bills.
  2. Off-grid Rooftop solar power Plant. This type of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects / off-grid solar power plant can be installed in such areas where grid is either not available for a limited period only.  This kind of solar energy model / solar energy project is often termed as the stand alone power system for areas where infrastructure has the ability to generate the electricity without being connected to the grid. It includes solar panels, inverters and batteries which can act as a backup during emergency time. No subsidy available. Rural areas / villages where grid is almost not available may certainly use this type of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects to power their homes in case of frequent grid failures.
  3. Hybrid Rooftop solar power Plant. This type of solar energy model / Solar Energy Projects / Hybrid solar power plant can be installed in such areas where gird is available from 18 to 20 hours however user also needs power back up for 4 to 6 hours along with benefits of net metering to reduce monthly electrical bill.  It is a combination of on-grid as well as the off- grid system. Hybrid solar power system may be slightly higher then off-grid system because of high cost of hybrid solar inverters. Eligible for 30% MNRE Solar Subsidy. This type of solar energy model / Solar Energy Project is the best bet for Semi-Urban users of domestic, institutional, NGOs and industry sector who are in need of 24 hours electricity along with net metering benefits to reduce their electric bills to the tunes of almost 70 to 80%.

Disadvantages of solar energy over Benefits of Solar Electric Power

Though, in my opinion there are no disadvantages of solar energy over benefits of solar electric power, however, few people consider these points as negative in respect of solar energy.

  • Initial investments of purchasing a solar system is quite high, however, in view of long term accrue and benefits, it is still advisable to go for solar.
  • Solar generation is closely associated with availability of sunlight. Hence we can say that solar energy is weather dependent. Although solar PV Modules can still generate electricity even during cloudy and rainy days, however, the efficiency of the solar system would certainly decrease. Researcher claim that during cloudy weather solar panels may still perform up to 25% of its capacity.
  • In case of Off-Grid / Hybrid system where battery storage is installed in the solar power plants / solar models / solar projects, the installation cost of such plants increase manifolds due to high cost of solar batteries / storage. Hence one may acronym Solar Electric Power to be expensive.
  • Normally domestic / residential user utilize their rooftops for outdoor activities, however, installation of solar power plants / solar models / solar projects would certainly involve use of lot of space thus leaving less space for other activities.
  • Manufacturing of Photovoltaic Solar modules are closely associated with environmental pollution which is unavoidable.

9 Primary Reasons to Swap to Benefits of Solar Electric Power

  1. While considering Benefits of Solar Electric Power, you might be contemplating to swap from conventional electricity to solar electric power, then listed here are some valid reasons for you to achieve this.
  2. Among the top benefits of solar electric power, I might say that it is becoming number one industry to provide jobs. Solar electrical energy, opposite to what some would possibly suppose, it really helps create jobs. In truth, the business creates as much as three time extra jobs than the coal or conventional type of fuel industry.
  3. Self-reliance / Independence from the DISCOM / power companies. Once you have installed hybrid / off grid rooftop solar power plant at your premises, you are no more dependent upon the main grid. You could use your own electricity generated by the solar electric power system even in case of grid failure.  So, if you have solar panels put in your roof, you mainly have constant supply of electricity during day time as well as night by using storage hence you are no more depending upon power generation and distribution companies.
  4. Since you are not dependent on the power company, and you can count on the sun to rise and set each day, then you can be sure to always have an energy source. Consider this, 3,000 Terawatts of solar energy shine down on the Earth’s surface every day, which is 10,000 times the daily global energy use.
  5. While the preliminary funding for solar electric power could be a bit expensive, in the long term it will possibly prevent Thousands of Indian Rupees. According to a research, it was discovered that owners who swapped to solar electric power while installing a 5 to 7 kWp solar power plant, such households had saved greater than Rupees 5 to 7 Thousands monthly.
  6. Solar energy does not require fuel combustion nor do you need to be concerned about gaseous emissions, thus minimizing your family’s carbon footprint.
  7. Because solar panels are installed on the rooftop, you are not losing any real estate in your yard or trying to figure out where in your home they can be placed.
  8. Solar panels / solar PV module generally carry 25 years performance / linear guaranty / warranty. That means for first 10 years these solar electric power plants are guaranteed for solar generation up to 90% of its capacity and 80% for the remaining 15 years.  Hence, in other words we may state that these solar modules are not going to stop working after end of 25 years, rather might work for 40 to 70 years also despite degradation.
  9. Government of India, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy via State Nodal Agencies like Haryana (HAREDA) in Haryana provides lot of solar generation incentives including solar subsidy and net metering facilities. Two type of solar electric power programs which are being promoted by Govt of Haryana as well as MNRE, Government of India may be broadly categorized as Off-grid and On-grid segment.
    1. Benefits of Off-Grid Solar Electric Power Plants – The Solar module converts the Sunlight into DC electricity in day time and this generated DC electricity is stored into a battery bank. Thereafter, the stored DC electricity converted into AC electricity by Inverter / Power Conditioning Unit is used for providing electricity to your house load. Haryana Government’s Manohar Jyoti Domestic Solar Energy Light Scheme offers a battery of 120AH with 150W Solar Panel. This can light up to three LED lights and a USB port and a DC fan.  Price of this device has been kept at Rupees Twenty Three thousand Four Hundred Seventy Seven (Rs.23,477). The financial assistance of Rupees Fifteen thousand has been fixed by the state government on a device, which will be given to the interested beneficiaries in Rupees 8477 at subsidized price.
    2. Benefits of On-Grid / Hybrid Solar Electric Power Plants – Solar Photovoltaic Technology converts the sunlight into DC electricity through solar cells. The generated DC is further converted in to AC electricity by the On-Grid / Hybrid Inverter which provides the AC electricity directly to your house load and excess if any is fed in to the Grid via Net meter. This type of Solar Electric Power Plants system is eligible for 30% MNRE Solar Subsidy.

Solar energy in India

India is being densely populated and having excessive solar insulation, offers a really perfect mixture for solar energy in India. Much of the nation doesn’t have grid, so one of the primary purposes of solar energy has been for water pumping, to start changing India’s 4 to 5 million diesel powered water pumps, average consumption near about 3 to 5 kilowatts, and off-grid lighting. Some giant initiatives have been proposed, and a 35,000 km² space of the Thar Desert has been put aside for solar power projects, adequate to generate 700 to 2,100 gigawatts.

Solar Energy in India is a fast developing industry

The country’s solar installed capacity reached 23 GW as of 30 June 2018. India expanded its solar-generation capacity 8 times from 2,650 MW on 26 May 2014 to over 20 GW as on 31 January 2018. The 20 GW capacity was initially targeted for 2022 but the government achieved the target four years ahead of schedule. The country added 3 GW of solar capacity in 2015-2016, 5 GW in 2016-2017 and over 10 GW in 2017-2018, with the average current price of solar electricity dropping to 18% below the average price of its coal-fired counterpart.

In July 2009, India unveiled a $19 billion plan to provide 20 GW of solar power by 2020. Under the plan, solar-powered gear and installation of solar power plant could become necessary in all residential plots measuring more than 500 Sq Yards, all private schools, colleges, training institutions, vocational institutes, NGOs / NPOs, Government authorities buildings together with hospitals and resorts.

18 November 2009, it was reported that India is able to launch its Solar Mission underneath the National Action Plan on Climate Change, with plans to generate 1,000 MW of power by 2013. Presently the nation has been assigned target to achieve 100 GW solar power by 2022.

Availability of Solar Energy in India

With about 300 clear sunny days in annually, India’s theoretical solar power reception, simply on its land space is about 5 PWh/year. The every day common solar energy incident over India varies from 4 to 7 kWh/m2 with about 2,300–3200 sunshine hours per yr, relying upon location. This is excess of present complete energy consumption. For instance, even assuming 10% conversion effectivity for PV modules, it should nonetheless be thousand instances better than the doubtless electricity demand in India by the year 2015.

Present State of Deployment V/S Claims for Solar Energy in India

The quantity of solar energy produced in India is merely 0.4% in comparison with other energy assets. The Grid-interactive solar power as of June 2007 was merely 2.12 MW. Government-funded solar energy in India solely accounted for roughly 6.4 megawatt-years of power as of 2005. However, as of October 2009, India is at present ranked primary together with the United States in phrases of potential solar power generation capability.

In January 2015 the Indian government expanded its solar plans, targeting US$100 billion in investment and 100 GW of solar capacity (including 40 GW from rooftop solar) by 2022. India’s initiative of 100 GW of solar energy by 2022 is an ambitious target, since the world’s installed solar-power capacity in 2017 is expected to be 303 GW. The improvements in solar thermal storage power technology in recent years has made this task achievable as the cheaper solar power need not depend on costly and polluting coal/gas/nuclear based power generation for ensuring stable grid operation.

In January 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President François Hollande laid the foundation stone for the headquarters of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in Gwal Pahari, Gurgaon. The ISA will focus on promoting and developing solar energy and solar products for countries lying wholly or partially between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. The alliance of over 120 countries was announced at the Paris COP21 climate summit. One hope of the ISA is that wider deployment will reduce production and development costs, facilitating the increased deployment of solar technologies to poor and remote regions.

Solar energy in India is Still pricey and Un-Affordable

Solar energy is at present prohibitive as a result of excessive preliminary prices of deployment. To spawn a thriving solar market, the expertise must be competitively cheaper — i.e. attaining value parity with fossil or nuclear energy. India is closely depending on coal and international oil — a phenomenon prone to proceed till non-fossil / renewable energy expertise turns into economically viable in the nation. The value of manufacturing ranges from Rs 15 to Rs 30 per unit in comparison with round Rs 2 to Rs 6 per unit for typical thermal energy.

Government Commitment for development of Solar Energy in India

In addition to its large-scale grid-connected solar PV initiative, India is developing off-grid solar power for local energy needs. Solar products have increasingly helped to meet rural needs; by the end of 2015 just under one million solar lanterns were sold in the country, reducing the need for kerosene. That year, 118,700 solar home lighting systems were installed and 46,655 solar street lighting installations were provided under a national program; just over 1.4 million solar cookers were distributed in India

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) have initiated schemes and incentives — like subsidy, mushy mortgage, concessional obligation on uncooked materials imports, excise obligation exemption on sure units/methods and so forth. — to in Europe and East Asia.

Solar Energy Growth Forecast in Inda

In August 2016, the forecast for solar photo-voltaic installations was about 4.8 GW for the calendar year. About 2.8 GW was installed in the first eight months of 2016, more than all 2015 solar installations. India’s solar projects stood at about 21 GW, with about 14 GW under construction and about 7 GW to be auctioned. The country’s solar capacity reached 19.7 GW by the end of 2017, making it the third-largest global solar market.

In mid-2018 the Indian Energy Minister RK Singh flagged a tender for a 100 GW solar plant at an event in Delhi, while discussing a 10 GW tender due to be issued in July that year (at the time, a world record). He also increased the India Government’s target for installed solar by 2022 to 227 GW.

Thar Desert for developing Solar Energy in India

In 1996 Amoco/Enron Solar Power Development deliberate to construct a 50 MW solar photovoltaic plant in the Thar Desert close to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan state. Two other initiatives had been proposed, one a 50 MW photovoltaics plant and the other a 200 MW solar chimney. None of these have been accomplished. The Rajasthan authorities, nevertheless, has put aside a 35,000 km² space of the Thar desert for solar power.

Use of Solar Energy in India for Rural electrification

Lack of electricity infrastructure is one of the principle hurdles in the event of rural India. India’s grid system is significantly under-developed, with main sections of its populace nonetheless surviving off-grid. As of 2004 there are about 80,000 un-electrified villages in the nation. Of these villages, 18,000 couldn’t be electrified by extension of the standard grid. A goal for electrifying 5,000 such villages was fastened for the Tenth National Five Year Plan (2002–2007). As on 2004, greater than 2,700 villages and hamlets had been electrified primarily utilizing SPV methods. Developments on low-cost solar expertise are thought of as a possible different that enables an electricity infrastructure comprising of a community of local-grid clusters with distributed electricity era. That might enable bypassing, or a minimum of relieving the necessity of putting in costly, and loss, long-distance centralized power supply methods and but deliver low-cost electricity to the plenty.

Solar Energy In India as Agricultural Support System

Solar water pumping methods are used for irrigation and ingesting water. The majority of the pumps are fitted with a 200–5,000 watt motor which might be powered with 1,800 Wp PV arrays which may ship about 140,000 liters of water/day from a complete head of 10 meters. By 30 September, 2006, a complete of 7,068 solar water pumping methods have been put in.

Land shortage for Solar Energy in India

Per ca-pita land availability is a scarce useful resource in India. Dedication of land space for unique installation of solar cells may need to compete with other requirements that require land. The quantity of land required for utility-scale solar power crops — at present roughly 1 km² for each 20–60 megawatts (MW) generated — might pose a pressure on India’s available land useful resource. The structure extra appropriate for many of India could be a extremely distributed, particular person rooftop power era methods, all related through an area grid. However, erecting such an infrastructure — which does not benefit from the economies of scale doable in mass utility-scale solar panel deployment — wants the market value of solar expertise deployment to considerably decline in order that it attracts the person and common household dimension household shopper. That may be doable in the long run, since PV is projected to proceed its present value reductions for the subsequent many years and have the ability to compete with fossil gasoline.

Slow progress of Solar energy in India

While the world including china and USA has progressed considerably in manufacturing of primary silicon mono-crystalline photo-voltaic cells, India has fallen quick to attain the worldwide momentum. India is now in seventh place worldwide in Solar Photo-voltaic (PV) Cell manufacturing and ninth place in Solar Thermal Systems with nations like Japan, Europe, China, and the US at present ranked far forward. Globally, solar is the quickest rising supply of energy (although from a really small base) with an annual common development of 35%, as seen in the course of the previous few years.

Potential of Solar Energy in India

Think-Tanks have really useful that India ought to undertake a coverage of growing solar power as a dominant part of the renewable energy combine, since being a densely populated area in the sunny tropical belt; the subcontinent has the perfect mixture of each excessive solar isolation and a giant potential shopper base density. In one of the eventualities, India couldn’t solely rein its long-term carbon emissions, however achieve this with out compromising on its financial development potential, with renewable assets like solar turning into the spine of India’s financial system by 2050.

Which state is the largest producer of solar energy in India?

Karnataka among all states top the chart.

Which is the largest solar power plant in India?

At the end of November, the country turned on the world’s largest solar power plant spanning 10 km sq in Kamuthi in the state of Tamil Nadu. It packs 648 megawatts of power—nearly 100 more than California’s Topaz Solar Farm, which was previously the largest solar plant at a single location

What are the advantages of solar energy in India?

Solar power is pollution free and causes no greenhouse gases to be emitted after deployment. Moreover, it is a maintenance free system which reduces dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels. Renewable clean power that is available every day of the year, even on cloudy days produce some power to the extend of 25% of its capacity.

Solar Subsidy in India

The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has introduced a number of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) schemes to promote solar PV in India and achieve its ambitious 100 GW target by 2022. The support is aimed at providing subsidies to individuals or enterprises willing to contribute to growth.

The Indian government is promoting solar energy. It announced an allocation of ₹1,000 crore (US$140 million) for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission and a clean-energy fund for the 2010-11 fiscal year, an increase of ₹380 crore (US$53 million) from the previous budget. The budget encouraged private solar companies by reducing the import duty on solar panels by five percent. This is expected to reduce the cost of a rooftop solar-panel installation by 15 to 20 percent.

The past year has seen an enormous progress in interest in renewable energy solutions, compelled by a series of apprehensions relating to climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, sustainability and energy independence. The uptake of renewable energy is being further stimulated by an emergent assortment of government solar subsidy, solar incentives and rebate schemes which make renewable energy solutions more attractive and affordable for households, shopkeepers, business owners equally.

Understand types of plants before your purchase a solar power system

First of all you have to understand types of Solar Power System before you purchase a Solar Power System.  There are three types of solar power system in broad category i.e. On-Grid, Hybrid and Off-Grid.

  • On-Grid Rooftop Solar Power Plants. Grid-Tied rooftop solar plants are installed in such areas where grid electricity is available for almost 24 hours a day to enable excess electricity exporting to the Grid through Net Meter. These systems are eligible for Govt Subsidy for Residence, Institutions and NGOs to the tunes of Rupees 20,000 per kW or 30% of the project, whichever is less. No batteries are installed in this kind of system, the Grid acts as the storage. The plant will not work in the absence of Grid for safety measures. This would enable users to cut their electric bills up to 90% for almost 25 years. One Kilowatt Grid connected rooftop solar power plant may generate 4 to 5 units per day subject to clear day light and availability of Grid. Solar Photo-voltaic modules may perform at least 25% of its warranted capacity even on cloudy days. Solar Photo-voltaic Modules are warranted to perform 80 to 90% for 25 years i.e 90% for first 10 years and 80% for remaining 15 years. One kilowatt solar plant may help you to reduce your electric bill up to Rupees 1000 per month for 300 clear sunny days in India. Installation of One kilowatt Solar Power plant would require 110 Square Foot (11 Square meters) shadow free empty roof space.
  • Hybrid Rooftop Solar Power Plants. Hybrid rooftop solar plants are installed in such areas where grid electricity is available for 18 to 20 hours a day to enable excess electricity exporting to the Grid through Net Meter as well as to power the load from batteries during Grid failure.  These systems are also eligible for Govt Subsidy for Residence, Institutions and NGOs to the tunes of Rs.20,000 per kW or 30% of the project, whichever is less. Batteries as per system size are installed in this kind of system, the Grid would also acts as the storage being a Grid tied system. The plant will work even in the absence of Grid, however it is quite expensive. This would enable users to reduce their electric bills up to 80% for almost 25 years. One kilowatt Hybrid rooftop solar power plant may generate 4 to 5 units per day subject to clear day light and availability of Grid. One kilowatt solar plant may help you to cut your electric bill up to Rupees 800 per month for 300 clear sunny days in India. Installation of One kilowatt Solar Power plant would require 110 Square Foot (11 Square meters) shadow free empty roof space.

Note On-Grid and Hybrid solar power plant equivalent to Sanctioned Load (SL) of your electric meter ranging from 1 to 500 kilowatt may be installed after obtaining prior sanction from State Nodal Agency of particular state Government. On-Grid and Hybrid Solar plant is comprised of Solar Panels, Mounting Structure, Connectors, DC Wire, Solar Batteries, On-Grid / Hybrid Inverter, Array Junction Box, Distribution Junction Box, Surge Protection Device, Earthing and Lightening Arresters along with other BOS (Balance of System).  On-Grid / Hybrid solar system also includes mandatory 5 Years Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) as per guidelines given by MNRE, Govt of India other than the individual guaranties / warranties of various products / components.

  • Off-Grid Rooftop Solar Power Plants. Off-Grid rooftop solar plants are installed in such areas where grid electricity is either not available during day time or very limited as in the remote areas. The load is powered from batteries. These systems are not eligible for Govt Subsidy. Batteries as per system size are installed in this kind of system. The plant will work even in the absence of Grid. This would enable users to cut their electric bills reasonably for almost 25 years. Users may not avail 30% Subsidy on Solar Power Electricity Panels since Off-grid Rooftop Solar System installed at their empty roof space are not eligible for Govt aided Solar Subsidy. Solar Photo-voltaic modules may perform at least 25% of its warranted capacity even on cloudy days. Solar Photo-voltaic Modules are warranted to perform 80 to 90% for 25 years i.e 90% for first 10 years and 80% for remaining 15 years. One kilowatt off-grid solar plant may help you to cut your electric bill up to Rupees 800 to 900 per month for 300 clear sunny days in India. One kilowatt (1000 Watt) off-grid solar power plant is sufficient enough to power up / charge your 02 batteries of 12 Volt 150 Ah. Installation of One kilowatt Solar Power plant would require 110 Square Foot (11 Square meters) shadow free empty roof space. Off-Grid solar power plant of any capacity may be installed without permission from any Government machinery. This plant is comprised of Solar Panels, Mounting Structure, Connectors, DC Wire, Solar Charge Controllers, Solar Batteries and Inverters along with other BOS (Balance of System). Off-Grid solar system normally carries standard individual guaranties / warranties of various products / components.

Calculate Load before Your Purchase a Solar Power System

Everybody want to understand the fact that how many solar panels are needed to power an average house or how do I calculate solar panels for my home.  Once you have got know-how basics of Solar Power System, it is now very easy to calculate your load and assess your solar power system requirement for your dwellings, shops, malls, institutions or industry.  A solar power system equivalent to your Sanctioned Load (SL) may be installed with prior permission from State Nodal Agency like HAREDA in Haryana.  You may also find your daily usage of units being consumed from your electric bill.  Simply divide total units by 30 / 60 days as per your billing cycle to come on to the criterion of daily unit consumption.  1 kilowatt solar power system may produce minimum 4 units to 5 units per day.  This would now become very easy for you to decide the size of your solar power system.

Know Renewable Energy Sources before You Purchase A Solar Power System

Notable among the solutions currently on offer are those that derive energy either directly or indirectly from the sun. These systems are of three main types: photo-voltaic systems, wind systems and micro hydro systems. Photo-voltaic systems use solar panels to convert sunlight directly into electricity, while wind and micro hydro systems use turbines and generators to convert the energy in moving air and water (extremely driven by the sun) into electricity. In general, photo-voltaic systems are the most useful, adaptable and flexible renewable energy systems currently available today, and can be installed in almost any location with good results.

Consider Essential Questions before you purchase a Solar Power System

While photo-voltaic energy systems are proven equipment which has been around for decades, they are not yet well understood by the common public. There are a range of essential questions which must be considered before you purchase a Solar Power System, because even with subsidies and rebates such systems entail a substantial investment.

The first question is quite simple: how much energy is the system required to supply? The design of any solar power system must begin with a detailed and thorough audit of energy requirements. During the energy auditing process, it is important to identify area, load and of course the total investment. Grid Connected Solar Power System for people lives in urban areas like District Cities or Metropolitan Cities etc. Following the energy audit, the next question is what types of photo-voltaic system best suits for your requirements? For anyone in an urban environment, grid-connected On-Grid / Hybrid solar power systems which feed energy directly into the power grid probably make the most sense. These systems are becoming increasingly common as more power utility companies embrace the technology and are updating their metering and accounting systems to accommodate them. Grid connected systems work on a simple principle: when your photo-voltaic system produces more power than you need, the excess is fed into the grid and your meter in effect runs “backwards”, creating a credit for your electricity account. At those times when your energy demands exceed your supply, extra power is drawn from the grid. At the end of each billing period, energy generated and energy consumed are reconciled and you either pay for the energy you have used or receive solar generation incentive for the energy you have supplied
  2. Off-Grid System for those living in more remote locations like villages or small towns, where access to the public electricity grid may be either non-existent due to frequent power failures, limited grid availability or too much expensive energy. In this case, a standard Off-Grid Solar Power System with Solar Power Plant, Solar Inverter, charge Controller, Solar Batteries will be required. Such systems are different from grid-connected systems in that they must reliably supply all electrical energy requirements as there is no grid or limited grid to fall back on. Off-Grid systems also involve a greater investment because, unlike grid-connected systems, they require a battery bank and solar charge controller (regulator) for energy storage.

To summarize, 10 Tips are provided here before you purchase a solar power system

  1. Seek Recommendations from Friends / Relatives who have already got their solar power plants installed and running successfully or at least they know a solar power system integrator / developer who is registered as a Company with Government to ensure quality, reasonable rates and After Sales Service. Before you purchase a solar power system in Sonipat, Haryana, India, look no further but immediately contact DayRise Solar Enerdy Pvt Ltd as One Stop Shop of your all Solar Energy Requirements.

  4. Prices offered by the Vendors has to commensurate with Benchmark Cost set by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. Presently Rs.65 per Watt has been fixed as benchmark cost for Grid Connected solar power system by MNRE for financial year 2018-19.
  5. Certification for Quality Assurance is must. Always look for solar panels / modules duly approved by MNRE / NISE /BIS to ensure quality of the products along with necessary ISO Certificates.
  6. Decide about type of Panels i.e. Poly-crystalline or Mono-crystalline. Many time a question rises as can you walk on a solar panel? I say “No” but you may if you wanna damage your modules.
  7. Quality of Solar Panels Mounting Structure. It has to be MS Dip Hot Galvanized to ensure that structure remains rust free and withstand weather conditions for a longer period. Structure must be able to withstand storm / winds pressure at 150 km per hour speed.
  8. Solar Inverter comes in many varieties like Off-Grid, On-Grid and Hybrid as per your requirement. Further they are also classified into Pure Sine Wave, PWM or MPPT inverter.
  9. AMC / Warranty / Guaranty.  All On-Grid Rooftop Solar Power Plants aided with Government provided solar subsidy must carry a 5 years AMC / Warranty / Guaranty other than the individual component warranties.
